ARTPARK Moonshot Summit has been postponed

We are postponing the Moonshot Summit 21 (new dates will be announced shortly).

Here’s why.

We chose to do this summit to convert our collective desire into concrete actions to leverage technology to transform the lives of all 1.4 billion Indians for the better. Not just for getting people together for a mere conference with much fanfare. Eminent experts from global industry, academia, and government came together to shape our vision and signed up as speakers. You all joined us in this worthy mission contributing your ideas and tremendous energy. Thank you.

While one objective of the summit was to channel ideas and build consensus, the other was to actually launch a moonshot challenge with both a worthy goal and a challenge purse.

So, we have decided to postpone the summit, in order to incorporate the government procurement process for innovative technologies into the moonshot design towards the second objective. (The lack of assurance of adoption is one of the biggest barriers to technology innovators pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Most of the core technologies that enable our lives today exist because in countries like the US, governments have played an important role as early adopters)

Since incorporating such a procurement process would ensure much larger funding amounts and higher private sector participation, it will increase the chances of our success for the moonshot for the nation. In the coming weeks, the ARTPARK team will work closely with NITI Aayog to refine the funding framework and incorporate the buying methodology so that we can announce the moonshot challenge with it and execute it in a bigger way.

We will also keep you posted about the new dates for the summit. We have only postponed the summit, not the march towards the moonshots.

And we’d love to get you involved. After all, moonshots belong to the nation and represent the collective will of its people. We will reach out to you for participation in moonshot roundtable workshops to channel your ideas and energy - the essential rocket fuel for moonshots!

We leave you with these famous words of JFK:

“We choose to go to the Moon… We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills; because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win…”

Thank you,
Team ARTPARK Moonshot Summit

About Moonshot Technologies

It’s Moonshot Thinking, Not Wishful Thinking:

What emboldens us to dream of a future with such dizzying possibilities?  At ARTPARK, we passionately swear by “Moonshot Thinking” and deploying “Moonshot Technologies” to accomplish seemingly impossible feats in order to bring about far-reaching societal impact.

For It is moonshot thinking that has enabled the staggering feat of placing man on the moon—against seemingly impossible odds. A consequence of this accomplishment being the creation of a massive innovation complex that served America admirably over the years.

Another dramatic application of this very Moonshot Technology was ARPANET, kicked off in 1966, which eventually resulted in the internet. The internet in turn gave rise to the knowledge economy. Similarly, the GPS technology sprang directly as an application of this Moonshot, currently in use in countless innovations everywhere.

And closer home, it is moonshot thinking that led to the successful conception and implementation of our first technology moonshot, Aadhaar:  reaching 1.2 bn people in 10 years.

For India to play a massive role in the upcoming ecosystem, we need to launch ambitious technology moonshots, which will create the innovation ecosystem necessary to dominate the experience economy.

The time is ripe to devise the next moonshot. It is time, too, to place sufficient capital and the might of the government, industry, and academia in service of realizing the next technology moonshot moment for a brave, bright, inclusive tomorrow.
